Introducing birch wood eco-friendly cutlery! Made from renewable resources, it is 100% compostable, and can withstand hot food and liquids!
Grown from replanted birch forests in China, this cutlery (and the forests) is F.S.C. (Forest Stewardship Council) Certified. Precious water/irrigation is NOT diverted to grow the trees, saving resources; and the cutlery can compost in EVERY form of garbage, composting or recyclable bin. Knives will cut steak, the forks work great with salad and the spoons work great with yogurt, or pureed /chunky soups.

Fun facts:
- If it ends up in a storm drain and ends up back on a river bank or beach OR if it ends up in a landfill, it's STILL just a piece of all natural wood
- Wood is a natural repellent to bacteria (chefs who know this choose wooden cutting boards over plastic)
- Food resources are not being used to make a consumable -- the trees are NOT genetically altered
Is it compostable? How long does it take to break down? Our cutlery has no glazes or coatings, it is solid wood, so yes our cutlery is bio-degradable and compostable! Waste management facilities tell us it takes 60-90 days to break down in an industrial composting facility. A backyard compost will have different time frame depending on location. Heat and moisture will increase a compost time. i.e.: a backyard compost in Toronto may take longer than one in Florida. If our cutlery lands on the ground it will break down with time as well. If it ends up in a landfill it may also breakdown, but again that depends on moisture content and air exposure, and let's face it... if it ends up down a storm drain and washed up on a beach it is STILL JUST A PIECE OF WOOD!
What about splinters? Think of our product like a Popsicle stick or a tongue depressor, only shaped like cutlery. We have schools that use our wooden cutlery everyday. (take a piece and get your customer to rub the edge, it's very smooth)
