Our Classic Maple bed is completely hand designed, hand made and hand crafted. All the wood is sustainably grown, and no toxic glues or stains are used in its construction. It is strong, sturdy, and will last a lifetime.
All the wood in this bed is harvested from managed Washington and Oregon forests under sustainably grown forestry practices. The head and foot boards are made of hand selected single solid pieces of Pacific Coast Maple. The side boards are also 100% Pacific Coast Maple, while the slats are Douglas Fir.
Each bed is built to order (it takes about 6 to 8 weeks) by a team of dedicated mountain craftspeople working at Pacific Rim in Eugene, Oregon. Each piece for your bed is expertly finished and hand-rubbed with a non-toxic combination of natural tung oil and pure organic beeswax to highlight the natural beauty of this distinctive hardwood.
The bed is available in two versions - Platform and Boxspring.
Platform: If you do not have a boxspring, get the Platform. The Platform (and side rails) are higher off the ground because the entire bed structure doesn't need as much room (because there's no boxspring! Duh!). The total height of the headboard and footboard are less, because it doesn't need to make room for a boxspring
The platform foundation is made of sixteen closely spaced slats attached with natural jute webbing. The double and queen sizes are bolstered by one center beam, while the king sizes use two center beams. There is no center beam necessary for the twin size.
Boxspring: The platform foundation for the boxspring version is made of four separate slats sturdy enough to support both a boxspring and mattress. This four-slat platform is appropriately lower in height; thus the boxspring version has a taller headboard and footboard, and lowered side rails, to accommodate both a boxspring and mattress.
All beds we sell are made free of toxic glues, formaldehyde and particle board. The little glue that is used is formaldehyde free. This bed is an excellent eco-conscious choice for any bedroom. We also offer this bed without any finish at all (made entirely of completely untreated and raw wood) for those among us with environmental sensitivities or allergies.

Handmade beds are made to order and will take about 6-8 weeks for delivery from the time of your order.
