organic cotton fabrics are softer and stronger than conventional cotton and last a lot longer!
Make an investment in yourself and the environment by making an organic, non-toxic choice for your bedroom. Did you know it takes 1.25 pounds of chemicals to produce the cotton in a single set of traditionally grown cotton queen-size sheets? Planted on only 3 percent of arable land, traditional cotton crops account for 25 percent of the total pesticides and herbicides used annually - about 350 million pounds per year.
By turning the cotton into fabric without the use of chemicals, the cotton fibers retain both their softness and strength, make these sheets an incredibly durable product! The fabric is preshrunk using steam to keep its fit. White fabrics are bleached using only mild hydrogen peroxide rather than harsh chemical bleaches.
Wisteria fabric has a light reflecting sateen weave, with a subtly lustrous intricate leaf and vine pattern. The Jacquard weave, used to make allover figured fabrics such as brocades, tapestries, and damasks, is woven on a loom having a Jacquard attachment to control individual warps. Fabrics of this type are high end because of the time and skill involved in making the Jacquard cards, preparing the loom to produce a new pattern, and the slowness of the weaving operation. The Jacquard weave usually combines two or more basic weaves, with different weaves used for the design and the background.
