We recommend replacing the filter every 3-6 months, depending on your usage and household size to keep this chlorine busting machine in good shape. The filter naturally darkens with use and time, and when it turns black, you know its time for a replacement. Please maintain your filter. If it continues to be used after its life-span has passed, water will not run through it, eventually cracking the casing - so it is vital be aware of the status of your filter.

Recycling information:
We encourage you to return your spent cartride to rainshower for recycling. This unit was designed so that the plastic could be reground and KDF be resmelted by a recycling company. We'd prefer our products get a second life rather than contributing to the amount of waste that ends up in the landfill. THe postage it takes to send back the spent cartridge is a small but worhtwhile contribution to the overall health of your environment.
