Greenhome.com Launches Green Products Supply Chain Transparency Initiative
December 3rd, 2010
Since its origins in 1999, ecommerce pioneer Greenhome.com has been a recognized source for how to information on conscious living and greening your home and business, as well as an early leader in greening the supply chain, requiring 100% of the products it carries to go through a Green Product Approval Policy.
In order to increase the level of transparency for the consumer in the sourcing and business practices of green product supply chain, Greenhome.com has launched Phase I of a new green products supply chain initiative, a CEO Green Practices Statement.
Green Home has asked all current and new manufacturers and distributors supplying products for sale on Greenhome.com to voluntarily submit a written statement from their CEO, Owner, or a senior manager on their greening practices and management’s personal beliefs about green products. Greenhome.com publishes these responses on its Green Home Blog, http://blog.greenhome.com. The responses are voluntary in Phase I, as Greenhome.com test responses from suppliers. Green Home is evaluating inclusion of a CEO Green Practices Statement as a required part of its Green Product Approval Policy. Phase I questions include:
What’s your personal definition of greening? How did you get started in green business? What do you and your company do in your own life and operations to walk the walk? Do you really think green products make a big difference and why?
Green Executives Speak Out is published as an interview series available on Greenhome.com’s Green Home Blog, http://blog.greenhome.com, as well as in Greenhome.com’s weekly newsletter.
