eco
The prefix eco- is used for words relating to ecology or to the environment. Since it is commonly used in relation to environmental issues, ecology often becomes an inaccurate synonym for the environment.

EDTA is an additive used to keep detergents from foaming. It also prevents bleaching agents from becoming active in while still in their packages. EDTA bonds easily with heavy metals, which will not break down in the environment.
elemental chlorine bleaching
Also called elemental chlorine free bleaching, a process for bleaching recycled paper intended to reduce the production of dioxin. This process brings the amount of dioxin produced to below-detectable levels by substituting chlorine dioxide for elemental chlorine gas in the bleaching process. However, some people advocate for chlorine free processing of recycled papers which includes bleaching with oxygen, ozone or hydrogen peroxide instead of chlorine chemicals to eliminate the production or emission of any dioxin.
