Your Bedroom Checklist

PRINT YOUR BEDROOM CHECKLIST
BED
The bed frame does not contain pressed wood or synthetic adhesives.
There are at least 15 inches of standing space along both sides for making the bed.
Your bedding is cotton and/or wool, not foam or other synthetic.
If you use permanent-press sheets, they have been washed several times before being put on the bed.
Your do not use an electric blanket or an electrically heated water bed.

CLOSET
It has a light inside, mounted at least 18 inches from clothing or other stored items.

COLORS
The bedroom is painted a restful, tranquil color.

FURNITURE
There is no pressed wood in any bedroom furniture.
Babies and small children should not have pillows.

LIGHTING
There is an overhead light with a switch right inside the door.
Reading lights are placed so you can read in bed.
There is a light switch within reach of the bed.
The lights are like sealed enclosures, like bulkhead lights, for safety.
All the lights have molded plugs.
You have installed special childproof sockets or are using outlet covers.

SAFETY
All small rugs have nonskid backings.
There is a nonionizing smoke detector here.
You have no track lighting here (Note: Children are known to poke items into the tracks.)

WINDOWS
Your curtains are of natural fabric and have not chemically treated.
There are windows on two sides of the room for good light and ventilation.
Each window has a lock.
