This Week's Green Home Special: Be Even Greener in the New Year
Happy Green Year! From all of us here at Greenhome.com we want to wish all of you, our friends and customers, a super-fantastic 2009!
2008 was an incredible year! Our wonderful country finally started to go green! And not surprisingly, Green Home had its best year ever. We've sold literally millions of dollars of green products; and by buying green with us, you have kept tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere, saved tens of thousands of trees, and held acres of plastic out of landfills. Even though each of us is only one person, from our vantage we can clearly see how each small effort really adds up.
In 2009 we will likely witness the beginning of a true sea of change in how America consumes. We are excited about being a part of that, and mostly about doing it with you! To that end, we're proud to announce that we'll soon introduce a new interactive part of our website where everybody in our community can share green ideas, success stories, challenges and solutions.
To get things started, each of the senior staff here at Green Home has made a New Year's resolution that we'd like to share with you.
Lawrence - "As the CEO of Green Home, I've insisted that our office give up paper coffee cups and bring their own mug. Unfortunately, there have been occasions (not too many, but, yes, it's happened!) where I've forgotten my mug! Unfortunately, disposable slip-ups happen to the best of us. My green resolution is to never forget by buying 3 mugs (they're only $12 each), one for in my car, one on my bike, and one in my front hall. I am going for 100% no disposable paper in '09."
Gabriel - "I was visiting my mom at Christmas and she packed me a lunch for my flight home - wonderful, right? But she packed every item in a separate plastic bag. Cheese, crackers, cookies, fruit - it all added up to 6 separate plastic bags that are now on their way to a landfill. I do sometimes re-use these ziplock-style bags, but I'd like to do more in '09. That's why I've decided to use Cellulose Bags, an amazing, totally compostable alternative to plastic baggies. I'm sending a pack to my mom too!"
Rebecca - "Cleaning up after Christmas dinner I realized that I had used an entire roll of paper towels. I had cloth towels I could have used, but paper towels just seemed easier. Yet as I looked around at the trash from the day, I thought enough is enough! I'm going to start choosing cloth over paper in '09, and specifically microfiber. I'm planning on purchasing one of each color for each room of my apartment, to make cleaning fun, easy and less wasteful."
Kari - "I'll admit it - I love the smell of cleaning products. But when my mamma pointed out how toxic most household cleaners are, I went searching for a cleaning product that was not only environmentally friendly, but smelled great too! So, I tried Charlie's Soap, and it is exactly that - a powerful cleaning product with the true, clean and eco-friendly scent I crave. Switching out all my cleaning products with safe, powerful alternatives is the perfect way to start out '09."
Wishing you a Happy & Green New Year from all of us at Green Home
