Letters To The Editor
Dear Green Home Editor, Thanks for your refreshingly honest, down-to-earth, readable zine. With your help, going green does not seem like such a daunting process after all. Can't wait to wrangle some worms, fight pests the natural way, and turn my yard into a wild-life refuge. Can't wait for the next issue, either. -Janet Allon, Carmel, NY
Dear Green Home Editor, -Elaine
Dear Green Home Editor, I just read your article on borax and I use
it on everything. Here is my laundry detergent recipe: Take one bar of soap ( I use Ivory) and shred like Mozzarella cheese. Place into two quarts of simmering water. Stir well and allow to sit, stirring occasionally till completely dissolved. Pour into a 2 gallon bucket, and add a gallon of cold water and two cups of borax. Stir very well, until borax is dissolved. (You can add a few drops of essence oils, if you want fragrance. I like a mixture of lavender, pine, and orange.) Add enough water to fill the bucket, stir one last time, and set aside, covered, until the next day. It should be a gel that dissolves into a load of wash perfectly. -Jennifer Fisher [Ed.
