Neal Dikeman, Green Home Chairman

Neal Dikeman

Neal is long time venture capitalist and startup executive. Besides being Chairman and the investor behind Greenhome.com, he has served as a director of several technology companies, currently including global power delivery provider American Electric Technologies, Inc, (NASDAQ:AETI), is chief blogger for Cleantech Blog, named one of the 50 Best Business Blogs by the London Times, and chairs industry portal Cleantech.org. He is a well known writer and speaker on energy and clean technology and has spoken at 100s of industry conferences.  His day job is as a venture capitalist at Shell Technology Ventures, the corporate venture arm of Royal Dutch Shell plc.

He is married to an ecologist and environmental scientist, and they have 2 peach trees, 2 fig trees, 1 pomegranite, 1 starfruit, 4 grape vines, 2 berry bushes and 3 chickens in the backyard (they lay blue-green and red eggs, btw), and 2 daughters who sleep on organic cotton mattresses from Greenhome.com. He lives in a 1950s house with a compost bin, large recycling bin, and rain barrels (still working on attaching the rain cachements to the sprinklers). It is a work in process, the house has been reinsulated with blown cellulosic insulation, windows replaced with energy star windows, and they are slowly replacing every light in the house with LEDs. When time permits, he likes to spend the weekend on the family ranch in Central Texas.

Prior to Shell he was a founding partner of Jane Capital Partners LLC, a cleantech merchant bank in San Francisco. While at Jane Capital he has served in a number of board and executive capacities, including CFO of smart grid company Smart Wires, CEO of carbon management software startup Carbonflow, cofounder of smart grid and superconductor technology startup SC Power Systems and its successor Zenergy Power plc (AIM:ZEN), and helped lead the international launch of TriniTEQ in wireless POS solutions, as well as the launch of the solar business of a state owned energy company and a few others. He has done 9 startups in between the venture capital.

He previously served as Director of Business Development for Globalgate, the parent company of Yellowpages.com (later acquired by a JV of SBC and Bellsouth), and as an associate at private equity fund manager Doyle & Boissiere. Before entering private equity, he began his career in energy investment banking at Bankers Trust, and has a B.A. from Texas A&M University.

Why I love Green Home: "I've been doing cleantech for a long time. All these clean technologies need a way to market that the green consumer and business can trust. Greenhome.com is that way."
