Say No To Pesticides and Chemicals, Go Organic

It’s A Slow Burn

There are many ways chemicals and pesticides infiltrate your life. Whether it is the food you eat, the clothes you wear or the air you breathe, accumulative risks from these toxins are inevitable.

In the conclusion from the study, ‘Late Neurological Effects of Early Environmental Exposures’ published in Environmental Factors in Neurodevelopmental and Neurodegenerative Disorders, 2015, pesticides were mentioned regarding future development,

“Increasing evidence is being generated showing that a variety of early life exposures, including lead, methyl-mercury, air pollution, pesticides, and alcohol, have discernible effects on later brain structure and organization.”

This is one small example of many findings which show how synthetic, toxic chemicals are leaching into our health in many inconspicuous ways.

Going Organic Isn’t Just Food

The organic movement has been relegated mainly to food. Everywhere you go there is now an organic section to support this highly Eco-friendly agriculture, Hopefully, in a few years it will be the other way around. A small section for tainted, processed foods and a the rest of the supermarket completely organic. However, until that happens don’t forget to go organic when purchasing non-food products like:

  • Organic bedding, comforters, sheets, pillows and even mattresses
  • Health and beauty products like shampoos, soaps and lotions
  • Clothing made from organic cotton, bamboo, or wool with a complete Eco-friendly manufacturing cycle
  • Organic non-toxic cleaning products

Look for labels that inform of not only the word “organic”, but also fair trade, GOTS, certified humane, and more. Do your research to find out where your money is going and then buy accordingly. The more authentic, organic manufacturers you support, the more they will hopefully replace traditional counterparts using health and environment compromising production practices.

Switching Up Your Garden

Before you load up on bags of toxic fertilizer, pesticide sprays, herbicides, insecticides and more, step back for a moment and think. Think about a change that will allow the earth you till to be supported by you, rather than poisoned by you.

Although many conventional yard and garden products get the job done, deep down you are slowly poisoning your surrounding watershed, releasing VOCs (volatile organic compounds) into the air, and even tainting the very food you may be growing. Say no to pesticides and chemicals, and go organic gardening instead. Watch your favorite flora thrive in the healthy environment it deserves while supporting a cleaner environment all around.

It doesn’t take much to go organic and say no to chemicals, pesticides and other toxically prepared products. It may cost a little more but in the long run it will pay for itself in potentially less medical costs and a more sustainable planet.
