Fly Your Green Flag on Small Business Day: November 25th

Posted on November 18, 2017 by Matt Tomasino There have been 0 comments

On Saturday, November 25th, the nation will recognize small business day which is a unique  opportunity to shine from underneath the looming shadow of big corporations.

This is an essential event especially if your small business is embracing green practices such as using non-toxic cleaning supplies, changing over to more socially conscious vendors or including more Eco-friendly choices. When these and any other green welcoming actions are implemented, it sends a signal to your workers and consumers that your small business walks the walk.

Take this opportunity, one day after Black Friday, to let your consumers know that your small business offers quality products or services with green sales incentives beyond big box competitors.

Saturday, November 25th is your day to shine so you fly your green flag for all to see.

It Works

Last year small business Saturday (SBS) had culminated into some impressive numbers. The Knowledge Center reported,

  • A whopping 14.3 billion was spent on Small Business Saturday in 2014.
  • On Twitter, SBS is predicted to approach 1 million tweets
  • While American’s are spending less money shopping in general, a larger percentage of that is predicted to go to small businesses

With this kind of attention, swinging the pendulum back into the small business corner is becoming more of a reality. People have become disenchanted with poor quality from big box stores when trying to save a buck. Now, embracing more green, USA made, socially conscious products and services can draw the attention of a rapidly growing green base of consumers.

Pop-Up Green Marketing

Small business day is like a pop-up marketing opportunity to put your company in the spotlight for all to see. Some ways you may be able to take advantage of the extra consumer traffic on this day might be to:

  • Launch an App - Small business day is a perfect marketing opportunity to remind or launch your new or improved app. Whether it involves home goods, green landscaping, zoo info, activity park discounts or any other application this is a day to inform of your small business app.
  • Coupons - Hand out coupons or vouchers with green incentives to get customers to return on another day and, if they do, continue the incentives for more return visits.
  • Membership - Getting people to lock into a membership program for your small business is the perfect way to keep them not only coming back but staying involved as well. A membership doesn’t need to be paid, it can work on points, volunteering, etc.
  • Social Media Photo Op - Practically everyone loves social media posts so this small business day, set up green photo ops to add to your website or social media feed.
  • Have Fun - Create as many fun green games, prizes, info booths or anything you can think of to get people involved in your small business green campaign. More consumers will revolve around your business if green is the main scene as the majority are shown to want to do business with those that support the planet and can prove it.

On Small Business Day, November 25th, take advantage of ways you can incorporate your small business green ways and then roll out a full campaign come National Small Business Week April 29th-May 5th, 2018.
