Earth Day Action Toolkits

Posted on April 11, 2018 by Matt Tomasino There have been 0 comments

On Sunday, April 22nd, 2018 America will celebrate its 48th Earth Day. This year the theme is ‘End Plastic Pollution’. With a world teetering on the brink of a fossil fuel revival perpetuated by the backwards policy of the current White House, it is only right to attack plastic head on.

Rather than waste earth’s resources on so many unnecessary products such as plastic bottles and plastic bags, for the sack of convenience, Earth Day is the perfect platform to collectively say no.

An Online Start

Each year the Earth Day website becomes more impressive and user friendly. At this hub you can find a variety of ways to take an online mobilization with the option of turning it into real time action in the near future.

The site announces its 2018 mission statement toward ending plastic pollution,

“From poisoning and injuring marine life to disrupting human hormones, from littering our beaches and landscapes to clogging our waste streams and landfills, the exponential growth of plastics is now threatening the survival of our planet. In response, Earth Day 2018 is dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics.”

Action Toolkits

The Earth Day website puts some rich resources into the hands of any individual, organization or educator that wants to step up and get involved. This is not only geared toward Earth Day but is available any day with several toolkits to get you or your specific group started.

It includes creating declarations, deciphering text and how it applies to the environment, hymns and songs as well as overall outreach tips to invite and educate the faith based community.
