Producing electricity is the most polluting of all industries, emitting Sulfur Dioxide, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide and Mercury from burning coal, oil and natural gas. Some States have deregulated their energy services, which means that we as consumers can decide to purchase energy from companies that only use renewable sources. We can also choose to do business with companies that have made a commitment to purchase only energy from renewable sources like Birkenstock, Domino's Pizza, Toyota, Kinko's, Air Touch Cellular and USPS.
