We believe the products you buy should be good for the environment,
which you're a part of and which is a part of you.
In essence, we're providing an additional product selection
standard to the ones consumers already have available. Consumers
generally choose a product based on:

Green Home believes that customers would like to include
environmental friendliness in their purchasing decisions.
We reference a number of studies that indicate that this desire
already exists and is searching for an outlet.
GREEN HOME LETS THE CONSUMER DECIDE WHAT GREEN MEANS FOR
THEM
We typically break down the areas of issues and impact points
into three areas: health, environment and corporate responsibility.
Health includes the product as it exists in contact with the
consumer, typically it's what we call "toxicity in use." Environment
includes the product's life cycle, what is generally known
as "life cycle assessment (LCA)." Corporate responsibility
means the company that makes the product: are they a good
neighbor? All three of these areas are very important. Green
Home is very explicit about stating that if there are tradeoffs
among issues and impact points, we will start with health
considerations, then move to environment, and then move to
corporate responsibility. In every case where there is a tradeoff,
Green Home explicitly states what the tradeoff is. We don't
"greenwash." Perhaps more importantly, where there is controversy,
Green Home aims to include the Pro and Con about why the product
may or may not be green.
HOW IS GREEN HOME'S APPROACH DIFFERENT?
We recognize that things in life are not always black and
white. We take an intelligent approach to qualifying products
and explaining to our customers why we choose them over other
ones. We believe this balanced philosophy is the only long-term,
sustainable way to gain the necessary trust of our customers
to really grow the green market.
Another thing that distinguishes us is that we don't recommend
products. We can only offer the customer a range of alternatives
to the products they normally use. We always factor in realism
and practicality so as to provide the consumer with the greenest
possible alternative for the job.
